South Dakota

We just saw the South Dakota welcome sign (tagline: "Watch out for jack rabbits"). We started today's drive at 10:15 AM local time (11:15 AM EDT) and around 1248 miles. We are on Interstate 29 North, heading to Sioux Falls. It's sunny today. My venerable Bricky (cell phone) is sitting on the Jedi's window defogger vent to avoid overheating.

We'll keep you posted as we traverse The Great Rectangles of the North. Today's attractions include a whole lot of flat boringness, followed by Mt. Rushmore. We may travel a bit beyond our official destination for today, since we can't really stay in the park itself. Also featured today: our first confrontation with Interstate 90, which will account for about half our total mileage.

I'm uploading some images -- will update post when they make it to the right dump truck. UPDATE: I attached this morning's pictures to a new post.
